Political Affairs Intern - The Borgen Project
January 2020-April 2020
• Organized and conducted lobbying meetings with members of Congress and their staff. Discussed poverty-reducing legislation and asked them to cosponsor the bills we discussed
• Conducted 3 fundraising campaigns and personally raised $750 for the organization.
• Gave presentations and speeches in support of the Borgen Project’s initiatives at community events and club meetings. Used recruitment skills to teach students at local universities about volunteer opportunities.
• Wrote letters, opinion editorials, and blogs to notify the public about poverty. My op-ed was published in Deseret News. Pitched story ideas to newspapers in Utah
• Networked with legislators and successfully bird-dogged with the American Fork Chamber of Commerce and a staff member of Representative John Curtis.
• Sent PSA’s to local radio stations. my PSA will air on KBYU starting in April.
• Mobilize 100+ community members in Utah to contact their political leaders regarding poverty-reducing bills.

• Write content for internal and external audiences. Currently write blogs, internal emails for campaigns, social media posts, press releases and biographies for all of our doctors.

• Used Project Management skills to organize and schedule yearly department Winter Banquet for faculty members, and Spring Awards Banquet for students.
• Collaborated with faculty members to schedule summer research conferences for students. These duties included organizing the venue, ordering food for the banquets, creating and sending out invitations to guests, and finding/providing entertainment.
• Pioneered the development of the quarterly department newsletter “Civil Talk” by contacting select individuals we chose to highlight in the newsletter. Wrote articles for Civil Talk, managed the department blog, and regulated the department website.
